Description
The lazy days of summer are a perfect time to let the kids work on their cooking skills. Life skills are safety skills here in Autismland. Use this summer cooking challenge to not only have fun this summer but also to teach them these crucial life skills to make them successful adults.

This summer cooking challenge is guaranteed to make fun summer memories. It’s an excellent addition to the 104 days of summer vacation theme. There are silly days as wells as learning days. No matter what day it is, your child will certainly learn a skill that will turn them into successful adults.
Now don’t think you have to do these summer cooking challenges every day in one month. You certainly can but that’s not feasible for a fly by the seat of your pants girl like me. We start it at the beginning of summer vacation then try to have it finished by the beginning of the school year. Lucky for us, that doesn’t happen until the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Cooking is a fantastic way to work on the master/apprentice relationship with our autistic kids . Add in the slow pace of summer and you have the perfect scenario. Following directions always helps work on lower executive functioning skills that build into higher ones that are needed as our kids grow older.
