I opened the mail to find a summary from my insurance company. No big deal. I get it every month. It usually tells me that it covered all the ot/pt sessions because I met my deductible for the year ( Logan’s’ medical needs do that every January). Blah, blah, blah.
It also usually tells me that his RDI is not covered because they don’t cover marriage counseling. Yeah, I know. One has nothing to do with the other. We aren’t going to marriage counseling but they don’t see any other reason for us to be at a therapist without the children. In case you are unfamiliar, the monthly appt with the RDI consultant is done with the parents. You go over the video you sent in and discuss the good and the bad. If you accomplished the objective then you move on to a new one.
In April, we began dyads with another child with autism, Hope. Logan has known her since they were both very young. They are at a similar RDI level so they really are a great pair. You do the dyads so that the child (aka Logan ) learns to transfer his new found skills to others. He does well with us but we need him to build positive episodic memories of interactions with other children his age.
Ready for the good news??? Our insurance company will cover the dyad sessions. Yup, because Logan is there too and they cover mental health sessions for children. We have another deductible to meet for mental health services ( we will be there by the end of June). After that , they are covered with a small co pay. WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! God is good all the time!
