My daughter and I have been watching some “chick flicks” lately, and some that aren’t necessarily chick flicks but fit us girls pretty nicely. 😉
I started thinking about all the movies we enjoy watching and came up with this list for you. Since I’m a mom, this comes from MY point of view. For you dads out there, take pointers– you can watch these too!
The titles are all my Amazon affiliate links, and all but 2* are for instant online rentals. Affiliate links don’t cost you anything extra, but generate a few pennies (literally) for me if you click and buy. Or rent, in this case. If you prefer not to pay for every movie, many of these are available for free streaming if you have an Amazon Prime account.
Have you never rented from Amazon before? It’s SO easy!
Redbox has NOTHING on Amazon!
You have two options: Watch on your computer from your Amazon account, or use an HDMI cable to connect your computer to your TV. You just need to remember to disable the screen/computer hibernation while the movie is playing or your TV will suddenly go dark. 🙂 (Ask me how I know!)
Amazon gives you 30 days to begin watching the movie, and once you’ve begun you have 24 hours to finish it.
You can watch it as many times as you want in that 24-hour period. We love renting movies that don’t have to be physically RETURNED to Redbox (or the store.) No more late fees!
The girls and I loved to watch movies together, and these are still our favorites.
1. Pride and Prejudice If you enjoyed the book (or even if you didn’t- I didn’t!) you will probably love this movie. I was so skeptical when she suggested it but I really enjoyed it.
2. Sense and Sensibility I never did read the book, but this movie is quite entertaining! Great for a fun girl’s night!
3. Titanic What can I say? Sappy movies just make for great movie nights. Titanic still remains one of the best produced movies out there. Be prepared to skip a couple of scenes for nudity and sexual situations if you aren’t comfortable with those. The rest of the movie is amazing.
4. A Walk to Remember The girls actually turned me on to this one. It is very appealing to teen girls with romantic ideas, complete with tears.
5. 50 First Dates Funny and fun! We love this movie so much! We know that men like Adam Sandler’s character probably don’t exist in real life, but they did a good job making him convincing.
6. Any stand up by Chonda Pierce Chonda Pierce is one FUNNY lady. Clean comedy combined with a sharp whit. You’ll love her.
7. Step-Up Street dancer badboy turned good guy story that makes my girls melt. Some passionate kissing but overall this is a good, clean movie and with great dance scenes.
8. The Ultimate Gift This one will make you cry, but it’s so good you shouldn’t pass it by.
9. Though None Go With Me Great story of love lost and found. This one’s a rare gem and your girls will love it once they get past the fact that’s it’s not a new, “popular” movie.
10. August Rush Fantastic story about a child prodigy and his search for his biological parents. Many life lessons illustrated here.
