There are a few attractions at Walt Disney World, where a toddler or preschooler is tall enough to ride, but probably shouldn’t if the family wants to keep having fun. Some rides can be quite intense or or scary and include bugs, dark, loud noises, etc. While every child is different, these five attractions bear looking into before you ride.

5 Attractions Toddlers May Need To Avoid
Tough to be a Bug – Animal Kingdom
“During the performance, please refrain from buzzing, stinging and pollinating.” This is an amazing 4D show at Animal Kingdom with incredible special effects. The show features a very mean and scary ‘Hopper,’ and at many times will be much too intense for a toddler, young child, or even elementary age children. If you decide to chance it (I personally would not), sit near the exit and have someone designated to leave with your crying child.
Fantasmic – Hollywood Studios
While the loud noises and fireworks are completely okay for some toddlers if you do not have a Walt Disney World dinner package at Hollywood Studios that will allow you to get out of the long wait on this show, it is probably best that it is skipped. It is suggested that you get to the attraction very early, which can be tiring for a toddler and adults.
You also risk having to leave the attraction because of how dark and loud it gets within minutes of the show starting. By all means, if your toddler enjoys fireworks and has no fear of the dark, take them to the show, but I would still suggest sitting towards the exit, so you can escape easily if need be. Noise cancelling headphones may work as well.
Dinosaur – Animal Kingdom
While I am a true advocate that if my child is tall enough to ride a ride, then, by all means, we should ride it if they want to. This ride at Animal Kingdom is an exception. The ride requirements are 40″, but the ride is incredibly intense.
There are no lights, except for the light on your vehicle. The light on the incredible jerky vehicle comes to rest on a huge dinosaur that roars right at the vehicle. This is definitely a ride that a family with a toddler or young child should avoid. If anyone suffers from motion sickness then this not the ride for you either.
Kilimanjaro Safari – Animal Kingdom
This one might surprise you. Hear me out.
While this ride has animals that a toddler will love, it’s really bumpy. You will have to hold your toddler in order for them see anything or hope to be on one of the ends. In my opinion, it’s not a pleasant experience for the parents trying to keep the toddler safe. Wait a year or two and everyone will love it.
Tea Cups – Magic Kingdom
Tea cups are the devil. Really. If you want your toddler to throw up and be grumpy all day then ride the tea cups. I have never seen a toddler not get off the tea cups crying. Don’t do it. Eat ice cream while everyone else rides.
What ride do you think toddlers shouldn’t ride at Walt Disney World?
