One of my 101 things to do in 1001 days ( see list on side bar of blog), is to clean Nana’s house at least once per month. Yesterday, we all headed over to do that for her. It was important to me to get the children involved and to treat it like it was an act of worship to God.
See, if we are to have hearts to serve like Jesus did when He was on earth, then we have to look at serving others as an act of worship. We bring glory to God when go do things for others that they can not do for themselves. We do these acts with a grateful heart like we are working for the Lord. That’s the lesson that I wanted to start teaching the children and remembering myself.
Nana is unable to do a lot of housework because she is an old lady! lol Just kidding! She has a bad hip and a bad knee so she can not bend and work like she used to when she was younger. Luckily, she still sews very well! I honor her as my mother by cleaning her house for her. God tells me to honor my mother and father in one of the 10 commandments. On the way over, the children and I talked about what we were going to do at Nana’s and how God would smile upon us for helping her. Logan cheerfully cleaned her bathroom and Madison did the dusting.
It was a wonderful day for everyone. Nana got blessed with housework help & the children were blessed to see her and help her out. They left with happy hearts and hopefully with the lesson that we worship Him by helping others. I think that will be our biblical trait to work on during next school year.
