With my mom’s recent surgery, I have been given an awesome teaching opportunity for my children. I can teach them how to serve others first. Not only to serve others but to do it wholeheartedly and out of love for that person. This can be hard for me as I often get overwhelmed and forget to do it with a smile on my face. If I don’t role model it for them then why would they do it.
So, we are over there every day with a smile on our faces. We clean her house and cook her meals. We get what she needs and visit with her. We remain happy to help and do whatever she asks of us. Then we come home and take care of her cute little dogs that we have here. We come home and cook and clean so that when our Dad (aka Michael ) comes home , he still feels loved and respected. It’s all about putting others first!
I believe with my whole heart that I am to teach my child how to follow God and do what pleases Him. If I teach them this and nothing else then I have fulfilled my job. What better legacy can I give them?
Phillipians 2:3-4 NKJV
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Putting others first pleases God. He clearly tells us that in His Word. We are to put others before ourselves always. This can be a hard lesson to learn especially in our world. Putting others first is not what the world does. Remember the saying, “It’s a dog eat dog world.” Maybe it wouldn’t be if we all did what the Bible says and put others first. Imagine our world if we did that. What a world that would be!
Oh yeah, Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there! Take the day off! You deserve it!
