This year, I am attempting to be a better steward of everything that God has blessed me with. This could be children, possessions, or money. Really, everything belongs to Him and I need to always remember that! If He can’t trust me to be a good steward of little things then He is not going to bless me with bigger things.
We try to grocery shop for the month at the beginning. This way, we don’t waste money on unnecessary things. This month, we were actually prepared. Leslie and I spent the evening before studying the local ads and clipping coupons. The next day, we let Michael sleep for a bit then took 1 child with us (only one as I tend to get sidetracked keeping track of kids). We went to 2 stores and purchased our monthly groceries.
The end result??? We spent $300 and purchased almost $500 of food. We saved $112 at the first store and $46 at the second store! We did splurge on a few things like Coke and pudding but other than that we stuck to the list. We were so proud of ourselves! Click here to see our freezer and newly organized pantry.
Now the key to making this work as well is to eat and cook at home this month. We have the food so it just needs to be put together and not take the lazy way out . This is where I become a good steward of the food that God has blessed me with. I truly believe that I am teaching my children to honor God by being a good steward.
