Description

Wizarding World Matching Game is one weapon in your arsenal to work on working memory. Therapy items don’t need to be boring nor expensive. Using printables such as this one will allow you to work on much needed skills in a fun way. Your child with autism has to acquire the lower level skill of working memory before you can work on the much bigger deficit involving executive function. When looking at a big deficit like that, you have to break in down into smaller pieces. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

What is working memory?

Working memory is an important skill for all children to learn., autism or not. Typical children learn this skill by playing with minimal assistance. Children with autism take loads more time making the needed neural connections to cement this skill. Matching games are a fun way to make this happen. Use characters your child knows and loves to have fun while helping your child with this crucial skill. Working memory is the ability to retrieve information already learned, experienced, or seen. In essence, you need to remember information in order to build on it with more skills. If you can’t remember the easy information, it’s hard to learn more complex skills.

Wizarding World Matching Game is a great way to help you work on much needed social skills as well. It’s tough to learn how to play a game in a way so that others want to join in with you. It’s hard for our kids to stay focused on the task at hand. All of these things are soft skills you can teach using games.
