Left & Right Activity Pack

Description

A great skill to teach your autistic child is to learn their left from their right.  This left & right activity pack is a fun way to not only learn it but to practice it as well.

Repetition is the key to teaching our neurodivergent children abstract concepts like left and right. Neurotypical children need lots of repetition as well but they often don’t have memory recall issues. When working with memory recall issues, you have to do it almost until you feel like your child is never going to get it then do it some more. If you’re not frustrated beyond belief at their inability to recall it, you’re not there yet.

In addition to this fun left / right activity pack, you can do other things to help make the correct brain synapses.

~ Cut a sticker in half then place each half in each shoe so it makes a complete sticker again. Teach your child to match the sticker.

~ If your child knows their letters, place a L in the left shoe and a R in the right shoe. This is the logical next step from the sticker idea above. 

~ Have your child make a L with the thumb and pointer finger. The hand that makes the correct L is the left hand. Don’t tell anyone but I still utilize this little trick.

~ When you’re in the car, remark which way you’re turning as well as that the driver’s side is the left and the passenger is on the right. Unless you’re in a different country than the US, then change it accordingly.
