Is Hocus Pocus a true story?
It’s loosely based on the Salem Witch Trials although the names Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson were real witches hung during the terror of 1692. The town of Salem, MA even has a Hocus Pocus tour you can take if you want to see all the sites from the movie.
Was Hocus Pocus always a Disney movie?
It was originally in production as straight to Disney Channel movie. After it was filmed, it was agreed that it could stand alone as a theatrical release. Whoever made that decision deserves a raise. No one could have foretold his ongoing popularity.
