Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it. The sights, the sounds, the smells, and most importantly, the fun memories I make with my family. One of our favorite traditions is to count down the days to Christmas. We do this in a variety of ways but it always entails doing something with each other. That tradition was the catalyst for this fun Lego calendar.
Build one activity per day with your child. Take it from me. It’s a great way to slow down during a very hectic season. For those of us in Autismland, it can be a gentle reminder to take a break and allow your child to relax with something fun. Remember this is supposed to be fun!

Resist the urge to turn into an educational activity or a time to work on master/apprentice. Neither of those matter at this time. What you are trying to do is slow down to enjoy your child and the season.
Your child may have difficulty figuring out how to make these ideas out of Legos. That’s why Logan and I did it together. It took all the pressure off of him to know what to do at first. After a few days of doing it as a team, he started working beside me rather than with me. By the end of the month, he certainly was more willing to try it completely on his own.
