Play Doh is a great item for working on hand strength. Add in crayons for color makes it fun too. Slime and play doh should be in every sensory toolbox. Your sensory tool kit doesn’t have to be entirely expensive items!

This is a fun activity to do with your child while working on the master/apprentice relationship. Not to mention that every time you play with it, you can remember how you made it together thus strengthen working memory.
Therapy at home is not hard. You just have to look at every activity to see what you’re working on at the moment. Play is learning, my friend.

Directions for making Crayon Play Doh
- In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients: gluten free flour, cream of tartar, and salt.
- In a medium, nonstick pot over medium heat, add the oil and crayon.
- Stir constantly until the crayon is melted.
- Add the water to the pot.

- Expect the wax to separate from the water but continue to stir, adding the dry ingredients to the pot.
- When the dough comes together as a ball and the liquid has absorbed, transfer the dough to waxed, freezer, or parchment paper.

- While the dough is still warm but cool to touch, knead the dough until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two months or at room temperature for 3 days.
