We are at that crazy point in our lives where the winter stuff isn’t quite over yet but the spring stuff has begun. This makes for a crazy April. And it makes it quite difficult to do lessons or rdi. Thankfully, RDI had become kinda second nature so we are able to implement it throughout the day effortlessly. (Yeah right, if you believe anything in this house is effortless then you clearly don’t know us!lol ).
So, we know have something to do out of the house every day of the week. Can you believe that??? I can’t either. Guess there are no pajama days for us this month. With that said, there are some amazing things happening here too.
Mondays- We are starting dyads with our consultant. This means that we will meet with her and another child every Monday for an hour. During that hour, she will working on applying the RDI objectives that Logan has already learned with another child his age. I am excited about this for many reasons. It will help him tremendously with friendships and social situations which has turned out to be our final frontier in the autism world. I have no clue what I am going to do with Madison and JoJo during that hour.
We also have massage therapy in the morning. This may have to go on the back burner if we need to drop some things from the schedule.
Tuesdays- Madison has dance and Logan has art. Dance is almost over as recital is May 31st. Logan just started the Prodigy art program with Thomas (his best friend). The exciting part is that we were able to enroll him without mentioning the a word (autism in case you’re wondering) and he has done well. God is good all the time!
Logan has pt today too.
Wednesday- Wow, where do I start????? First, Logan has pt again. Then massage therapy again. Then we have playdate with the Mom’s group from church. Then School of Music, then dinner then Wednesday night Bible study. We are literally gone from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM. There are great social interactions in these events so I don’t foresee anything changing here.
Thursday- I volunteer in the church office from 9-2 and Logan has art @ 3:15. We have the evening free here so that’s when we do lessons and catch up (yes, because we are always behind lol).
Friday- We have massage therapy and ot in the morning. The rest of the day is freeeeeeeeeee!
While we are a tad over extended waiting for dance and School of Music to end, this schedule works for us in the most part although it makes for one long week. When we first started RDI, this wouldn’t have worked. We needed extended periods at home to work on basic stuff like master/apprentice and co regulation. Now that we have gone through most of the parent objectives and have the basics in place, we incorporate RDI everywhere. We work on it at ot/pt, in the store, at the dance studio, wherever we are. For example, we mastered the objective of matching your partner’s speed when walking in Home Depot. You really can do it anywhere.
