Our Homeschool Week In Review 3/31/08-4/6/08. Well, we didn’t finish all our school work this week. We took Tuesday off to go visit Melissa & Brian and their kids in Davenport. All 3 of our kids had such a blast hanging out and playing in the pool. It was great fun. Much to our amazement, Logan stayed in the pool even when it started raining. He hates water in his face but the rain did not bother him. I knew that he would like the pool with his sensory issues. He really craves the deep pressure that he gets from the water. Much the same way that he loves the hbot chamber.

 

 

Logan finished Little House in the Big Woods book that he was doing for oral narration. He is getting better at telling what he just read. He is still working on Handwriting Without Tears Cursive  and really likes the Singapore Math unit that we began. He is not doing any other writing than what he is required to do in math since there is a lot of writing in that. Our main goal is still to make him feel competent and successful.

Madison is finishing up her kindergarten curriculum. She will wrap that up at the end of this month, maybe the beginning of next. After that, she will spend the summer working on her phonics and we will read some great literature books together. I have the Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons book. We will start that at the beginning of May. She is still struggling in reading so I am reminding myself that she is a young kindergartener.

 

JoJo has adjusted incredibly well to our lessons. He is a smart boy that can tell time already and can tell you all his letters. We will begin working on writing his letters and he will join us for history, Bible, and science. Of course I don’t expect him to actually participate but he will learn nonetheless.

The children are studying the Old Testament. They are finishing learning their Awana verses to get their awards on May 4th. We are mainly working on Awana verses and coloring pages while we catch up in history. I bought the The Story of the World, Activity Book 1  by  Susan Bauer. We have 3 chapters to do before it begins Abraham which is where we stopped in the Old Testament. Once we reach Abraham, then we will begin in the Old Testament again.

 

This week, we made our astronomy notebooks. These will hold all of our info that we study in astronomy. Next week, we will be making solar system models. Sounds fun!

 

One change that we will make this week is our schedule on Friday. Friday becomes the day that we do our art and art history as well as music and composer studies. We will play Bible, math and phonics games. The kids will be learning as well as having fun. What more could a mom ask for?
