This book was complete and utter twaddle. I think I actually lost brain cells by listening to this audio book. I had checked it out from the library and was so excited to get it. We are listening to the Magic Flute by Mozart. This book is supposed to be about just that. It was a total let down.
Other than my children learning that Mozart came from Austria, the book was a complete waste of time. The story is that there are some children that go back in time in a Magic Treehouse with the mission to help a composer learn to love music again. They run into a young boy named Wolfie and proceed to help him out of a zoo area by using a magic flute. Then he goes into the royal court and plays a new song on the piano.
That isn’t even what the opera The Magic Flute is about. My kids were perplexed as to why that was in the story. It confused them and made no sense to me.
Twaddle is a lot like junk food. You can eat it now and then but you can’t make it your whole diet. It’s a book that doesn’t make the subject come alive or teach you anything. For real, these books have no literary value. We will not be checking out the Magic Treehouse series again.
