Remember the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge? I told you that some of those books the children and I would be reading together and some I would read alone. Obviously, this is one of those books that we read together.
Actually, this was Madison’s read a loud book for last term. She didn’t finish it so we picked it back up when we started Term 1 on January 4th. I happened to get the book from one of my very good friends. She had it at her house and I remarked that I had been looking for a book just like that to read with Madison. So, she gave it to me. That’s is just the kind of person that she is. You can’t help but love her! You can find it on Amazon relatively cheap!
What I liked about this book is that the stories were short. There were 2 words at the top of the page that you were to go over with your child before the story started. They were always words that a child may struggle with. We went over them first . Then each page had 3 or 4 sentences max. There is no way that the child could not feel successful reading this book.
I also liked that the stories were put into simple terms for young children to understand. Madison felt successful reading it but she also learned a ton about the Bible. There were many stories that she already knew such as her favorite, Daniel in the lion’s den. But there were also some that she didn’t such as the one on the Lord’s prayer.
All in all, it was a great beginning reader. I would suggest it for anyone who has an emerging reader that needs practice and needs to feel successful. This is an easy book to use to accomplish both those goals.
