Do you LOVE Handwriting Without Tears and want to use the HWT font to create your own worksheets?
With one autistic son and another with severe dysgraphia, traditional handwriting curriculum just did not help.
My ASD kiddo would get overwhelmed from the cluttered pages (too many lines!) and loopy cursive was impossible. My other son’s dysgraphia made SIMPLE the only choice, with basic strokes and uncluttered space.
StartWrite has SO MANY options!
You can have top, center, bottom, and descender lines in colors you choose, or you can choose not to have them. You can have the top, center, or descender areas shaded– or not.
My preference is for the bottom area to be shaded.
With dysgraphia, this is a tremendous help for my son because he struggled so much with even keeping letters DOWN close to the home line, never mind even in the target area.
StartWrite has MANY fonts, not just HWT. Our other go-to font is Getty-Dubay Italic, which is included also.
StartWrite‘s toolbar has nearly endless options to choose from based on your child’s specific needs.
Text can be dark, medium or very light for tracing. It can be dotted in various shades, outlined for tracing INSIDE the letters, perfect for very young kids.
You can have a starting dot, or dots at directional change points, or directional arrows on each letter. Letters can be color coded with ascenders and descenders in different colors. There are more options than I’ve even tried!
