Make Your Own Fork Painting Manger Set

During Christmas, we don’t do regular lessons because who has time for that? Seriously, we don’t do regular lessons because let’s face it, Christmas is sensory overload for a typical person, let alone one with autism. We keep things low key with some fun crafts and minimal events.

Jesus is the reason for the season so we make sure our crafts and activities revolve around Him like this Fork Painting Manger Set and Going On A Manger Hunt. The fun part of this craft is that you can find most of these items hanging around the house.  It also makes a craft gift to send to Grandma in the mail.

Supplies Needed For Fork Painting Manger Set

• Template printed on white card stock
• White card stock
• Paints: blue, yellow, brown and skin color
• Paper plate
• Paint brush
• Black marker
• Glue stick
• Scissors
• 2 plastic forks

Instructions For Fork Painting Manger Set

1. First print out the Fork Painting Manger Template on white card stock.

Next, paint the circle the skin color and the long oval blue. This will become the baby Jesus.

Now pour the brown and yellow paint onto the plate.

Then dip the underside of the fork prongs into the brown paint.

Starting in the center of the white card stock, drag the fork from the middle outwards. TIP: Drag the fork lightly to create longer lines.

Continue going from the center of the paper outwards until the whole page is covered in brown fork lines.

Now repeat with the yellow. You don’t have to wait for the brown paint to dry. The combined colors create a nice straw-like appearance.

Next cut the painted circle and oval from the template. Glue the head to the body and draw on a face. You can use google eyes as well.

Glue the Baby Jesus to the manger and the craft is complete!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas – a time for gratitude, togetherness, and celebration.
