Family, fishing & gardening were three things that Grampa loved in his life. They were the three things that seemed to bring him the greatest joy and sadness when autism arrived to our family. He loved it when his two sons and their children would descend upon his house at the same time. He didn’t always join in the conversation but the banter of the brothers and the laughs of the grandchildren always made him smile. I don’t believe I could think of anything that made him happier. Autism would keep this from happening as often as he would have liked. It was something he struggled with until his death.
