You read that right. 102 years old. She was born the month before Titanic sank. How crazy is that to think about. She has seen 2 World Wars, The Great Depression, Vietnam, Korean War, watched television come into existence, radio, rock and roll, computers and so much more. Can you imagine how different our world is today compared to the world she was born into? Mind blown.
She doesn’t get around like she used to and needs 24 hour care. She’s blind but her mind is as sharp as a tack. She remembers everything even if she can’t see it. She is so blessed to still live in her house being cared for by her amazing daughter and other children. Her children’s devotion to her is a testament to how fabulous a mother she must have been during that season of her life. She is amazingly blessed to have all her children still alive save one which would be my father in law who passed away 3 years ago last November. She has seen children, grandchildren, and adult great grandchildren.
Her health is slowly fading. There may not be a 103rd birthday celebration . We are making the most of the days we have with her while she is here and coherent. Regardless of what the next year holds, her legacy is the strong family that she leaves behind. How glorious to have been privileged to live to past 100! Today , we celebrate her and her precious life. We celebrate the blessing of having yet another trip around the sun with her. Happy 103rd birthday Granny!
