Cat In The Hat Solo Cup Party Hat Craft

All of the Dr. Seuss books bring a smile to my face. I fondly remember using them to help the children practice their reading skills. One of our favourite holidays is Read Across America Day on March 2nd. A Cat In the Hat solo cup party hat craft is a perfect way to mark the occasion.

Needed Items For Cat In The Hat Party Hat Craft

  • White masking tape or duct tape
  • Red party cups
  • White dessert plates
  • Elastic cording
  • Scissors
  • Hole puncher
  • Pencil

Instructions for making Cat In The Hat Party Craft Hat

  1. Trace the opening of the party cup onto the top-center of a dessert plate. Cut the circle slightly smaller than the traced circle.
  2. For smaller children, punch a hole on each side of the inner circle for the elastic cording. For older children, punch the holes on the outer rim of the plate. Attach a length of elastic cording to the plate.
  3. Wrap the cup with two lines of tape.
  4. Place the plate over the cup and secure with tape on the underside of the plate.

These are so quick and easy to make that all the kids will want one before reading Cat In The Hat or even watching the movie. Either way, you will get major mom fun points!
