You Know You’re an Autism Spectrum Parent When

I needed a scoop for chicken feed, because I was tired of using an old mandarin orange can. I needed something that would scoop more than 3/4 cup at a time. So I bought this:

scoop

And then I got it home and realized I couldn’t let my son see it before peeling off the sticker.

Why, you may ask?

Because it said “dog food scoop” on it.

One thing about these Spectrum kids: They’re rule keepers. If it doesn’t say Chicken Food Scoop, it is NOT for chicken food. I just didn’t want to have a 20 minute argument conversation about the flexibility of scoops with my 12 year old son.

Some Spectrum kids also make up their own rules for things, and get upset when we (who don’t live in their heads) don’t follow their rules. The rules we didn’t know existed. Um. Yeah.
