Video Games and the Rules Change

Video Games and the Rules Change
The buck stops HERE.

The boys came home from the store with Dad a few days ago, and learned that I decided to make some changes.  What I’ve seen lately is that my kids don’t like to play outside. It’s not that they don’t know how, but sometimes it sure seems that way. Not only do they prefer to not play outside, but they don’t really DO anything inside either. Like read.

The main culprits are the electronics. Whether it’s the computer games, XBox and Kinect games, iPad and iPod Touch games, or Netflix (on any of the above devices!) these boys were plugged in or on wifi all.the.time. No longer.

The first thing they noticed was the sign on the computer, but then D2 spotted the one I had taped on the TV:

Can’t I take it down?

A closer look revealed this:

It’s a game changer.

After I read it with the boys and went over what this means to them, D2 went into his pouting place. And that’s okay.

Leave me alone.

Sometimes we just have to change the rules.

They don’t have to like it. And you know what? Since then, we have played more board and card games, and they have played outside and liked it! 🙂

Tell me about the last time you changed the rules on your kids!
