Let’s face it. Someone has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Criminals don’t take time off for Christmas and accidents still occur. In every fire house and police station in the country, there are men and women taking time away from their friends and loved ones to make our holidays safer. What a huge sacrifice that must be!
We baked cookies for days then laid them all out on the table for everyone to decorate. We had sooooo much fun. We invited friends and family to come help us decorate them. All afternoon, we laughed and talked and listened to Christmas songs. It was such a blessed day.
After the cookies had dried , we put them on plates and wrapped them up to give out at the fire stations nearby. We lucked out in that we drive right past a fire station on our way to Christmas Eve service. The children were so delighted when the fireman came down the pole to answer the bell.
It is our prayer that these firemen felt loved and appreciated on this special day. That it made it just a little bit easier to be away from their families. Above all, it is our prayer that they felt the love of Jesus every time they ate a cookie.
