Let’s face it. If you are a parent of a child with autism then you are well versed in poop talk. Most likely, you know your child’s poop patterns better than your own. You also have researched ways to make your child poop more and what that poop means.
Here’s what I learned from Kartzinel’s session about poop. Be thankful that you weren’t there as he had slides and everything. It was kinda gross. Informative but gross.
What is poop?
10 parts of h2O
1 part bacteria
1 part fiber
1 part mucous, fat, dead cells
Color of poop:
yellow means fat in stool
red = blood or beets
white/grey = lack of bile flow
green = GI infection
black = blood, bismuth, iron
reddish/black = BAD!!! Get to doctor immediately
Child has diarrhea? Remove fruit first.
Add zinc in at 20 – 60 mg.
Fiber!Fiber!Fiber! and lots of water to combat constipation
You can go daily and still be constipated! ( Sound familiar? Buckley said it too!)
aggressive & mean = parasite
giggly & hanging upside down = yeast
