Taking a cue from Amy @ Growing Fruit, I have decided to update all of you with my Christmas plans. That way, all of you will know what great blog posts are coming! Hehehe!
We don’t do school in December. It gets too busy with birthdays (mine and Logan’s ) and all the holiday hustle and bustle. What we are going to do is read and do all kinds of fun Christmas things like learn about the birth of Jesus. We have started reading Jotham’s Journey, which you read a portion of everyday until Christmas. It is a religious story about advent and the reason that we celebrate Christmas. It started yesterday and the kids really enjoyed it.
We are going to do a Jesse tree too which will be my blog post tomorrow. I stole it from Amy too! It is such a great idea and I highly recommend you check out her post on it and start one for your family too. It is an excellent teaching tool for young and old alike about the true meaning of Christmas and the awesome ways that God has provided for everyone.
We also have several service projects to do this month. We have adopted a needy family for Christmas so the children are busy finding ways to earn money and to clean up some gently used toys. We deliver boxes to home bound elderly people to brighten their holidays. We have caroling scheduled with church and our 2nd annual bell ringing afternoon for the Salvation Army.
It will be a wonderful month for us. I have prayed (actually I continue to pray) that Jesus will reveal ways to honor His Birth this month. After all, that is really what it is all about!
