Well the week is over. Are we done yet? Nope. In our defense, we are never done on Fridays. We do shortened days on Mondays & Wednesdays because of out of the home activities. There was a time when I try to get it all done Monday – Friday. In the end our schedule works better if we work on Saturday too.
This is our out of home event for Monday. Logan has hippotherapy on Monday afternoons. This is a terrible picture of him but it’s the only one that I took that day. He is on the horse while shooting a target with a bow and arrow. It sounds like a lot but he loves it. It really helps him work on his core strength and motor planning. This appointment takes most of the afternoon. The actual appointment is only 30 minutes long. UNfortunately, the location is 45 minutes away from our house one way. There are only two places in our area that offer this therapy. One is closer to us but it is $150 for a 6 week session. This one is FREE. Plus, Mrs. Cindy and Mr. Floyd are phenomenal with Logan. They are working up to a trot with the horse and Logan. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or price. We heart Liberty’s Gait!
Tuesday was our day at home but Dad was off work. I don’t know about anyone else but we don’t get nearly as much work done when Dad is home. We did do some much needed yard work though including massive weeding in Logan’s garden. He just needs to shampoo the soil and till it in really well. He is so excited about his fall garden. I am liking this obsession.
Wednesday brings dance, Kids Unlimited (music school) and church. We leave the house at 2 PM and don’t return until after 9 PM. Yikes! This week was worse in that the battery cable on the car decided to break so I had to call my mom to come get us. Sigh, it was a long day.
We had a great time this week learning all about vascular and non vascular plants. We went outside to collect leaves ( all green because we live in Florida). We looked for moss growing on the trees although this took some explaining to Madison. When I said moss, she though of the Spanish moss that hangs down from the trees . I had to show her the moss growing on the bark of the tree. Anyway, we learned all about how to look for the veins and midribs. This weekend, we will build a light hut and throw some plants in there to see what happens.
Both children did well on their Latin review this week. They can remember the words and what they mean. They have been practicing the prayer they are learning every day when we say our blessing before a meal. Logan is really enjoying it. Madison would be too if she would quit competing with Logan.
Next week I promise to take more pictures to show what we are doing. For some reason, I never think of it until it comes time to do our weekly post. We have some big projects planned and 2 field trips so it will be a jam packed week!
